NUDE
I would be remiss
To ignore this.
When we don’t see color
We don’t see the way society
On the daily
Disproportionately
Favors some over others.
Like Nylons
“Nude” known to be light-tones
Ignoring 50 shades of skin color
Ignoring 500 ways in difference
Of life experience
Be it the basics of:
Public Safety
Wage Gaps
Work Environments
Health Care
Housing
Every system in America
All the while:
Exploiting, extracting, and appropriating ideas, culture, and
art from the very people who have been historically excluded
So what color is nude, when we get down to it?
Nudity is vulnerability
Nudity is expository
Nudity is unprotected
A lot like the ancestors who endured enslavement, whose great-
grandchildren were then rejected from their own skin-tones of
nude garments
Enforced to a dress code of legs that were white
This is why we fight
This is inequality.
What lives on is decided between the daily choices of you and
of me.
Recognizing where society has embedded prejudicEs.
This is my vow to honor Nude as a range of color, with
differences we must see
Where no woman is truly free until we all:
Big and small;
Are treated with respect;
equal as unique human beings
