Poem by Lucine Kaplan

CONTROL TOP

I had a dream

In my palace there, cracks diving the floor
and the ceiling

Lava in between

Collapsing, crushed

Grandma was there at the top of the stairs

I howled, this isn’t fair
and spun around to the front door

On the floor

A newspaper headlining,
“Long Live the American Dream”

A control top ideology
